Christmas gift or diversion?

I love the holidays! Everything from the decorations, the tree that has our house smelling like the woods and the traditional food I try to veganize. This year one of my gifts, (way over our agreed price limit) was a new Canon Power Shot S95. I have never owned a digi camera before, kind of prided myself on that fact. But I guess I should try a little to keep up with the times... just a little.

So my first experiment was shots from downtown Huntington Beach. I know, pretty predictable.

Ok, I know I'm no surf photographer. But I had a lot of fun trying to shoot these kids surfing. And this camera has a zoom lens where of course my Leica doesn't. Yes, I have tried to shoot surfers surfing with my 50 lens on my Leica with black and white film. Not so good..

Every day Ed and I are at home working we usually take a mid day break to get something to drink and a walk on the pier. We always stop to watch the surf.

Every now and then you can see some guy flipping off another surfer for dropping in on their wave. This time though I was only able to get a "what?!".

Happy New Year!

Have you tried the Nokia N8 camera phone?
I received a Canon PowerShot SX150 for Christmas but I ended up giving it to my sister and keeping my Nokia N8.
