Mount Baldy

So on October 23 Ed and I and a lot of the Toy Machine boys drove out to Mount Baldy to celebrate Grant's 23rd birthday. This is where he wanted to go and who he wanted to share it with. I can not and will not jump the gap to get to the full pipe. So after watching from the other side for a bit I went for a walk to check out the graffiti. Some of it was pretty funny so I decided to document them. And now I'm sharing.

Where the skating goes down.

The reason why we are here, the man of the day, Grant!

Making sure that Toy Machine is represented on the walls.

Ed laying down a Transistor Sect.

I highly doubt that.

Political statement or hater?

Yes they do.

Homo or No Homo, they can't make up their minds.

The long walk back.

They were brilliant, I would love to know when the next one is so I can see more. See you around HB. My email is brad@krochetkids.org me and the boys at KKI wanted to send you and Ed some hats as a thank you. So Thank you!

Ahh! This is such an amazing post!

I'm going to be honest, I feel like I have to watch what I say or be more polite & use my words as I would(n't) on Ed's blog. Boys will be boys on Ed's blog, & we get down. No homo.

I still love your blog.

It's raining in HB!!!

Hi Deanna,

I know youre probably not really into answering questions here (or at all...), but Im really desperate, so I thought Ill give it a go.

Currently working on my BA dissertation aaaannnddddd:

My main topic is:
PHOTOGRAPHY OUTSIDE SOCIETY'S PERCEPTION OF ART – RECORDING POST-MODERN URBAN

with the research question:
how post-modern (1970s – first half of 1990s) American photography (Ed Templeton, Deanna Templeton, Larry Clark, Ryan McGinley, Cynthia Connolly) can reflect low-brow art movement – its practice and assumptions?

I would like to ask you a few questions just to direct your potential thoughts...:

1. does "city'' remain the important subject of art after modernism? is the experience of "city" a popular subject of art?
2. can low-brow art/street art/etc be described as the only honest representation of urban experience?
3. what is the place or how high is the impact of young artists/photographers in the post modern era in reference to high/low art?
4. what are (according to you) the main topics of urban art? would you say that topics and inspirations are rather positive (freedom of self expression, individuality, play) or negative (freedom understood as addiction, rat race, 'adult youngsters' paradigm)?

Thank you so much for your time. If you do not fancy answering questions AAAAT ALLL then it would be super cool if u could at least write a few sentences bout your work.

Weeeelll....

Im sorry i bother you.
